Let me share a few of my thoughts concerning Christmas, if I may.  While today’s post is simple, I find its content to be profound! Christmas time for me is a time to reflect on the reason for the hope that I have.  Being a believer in Jesus Christ, Christmas time ushers in a tremendous sense of wonder at the fact that our Savior chose to clothe himself in humanity, be born to a virgin in a stall reserved for barn animals, grow and teach us about the Father, be tempted by every type of sin and yet not sin, be scorned and persecuted by those he came to save, suffer, die, and be raised from the dead.  Just the mere fact that he (aka King of Kings, Lion of Judah, Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords) would take on human flesh and be born into a world that would despise and reject him astounds me.  He, from his high and lofty position in glory, could have provided salvation in any other way; yet, he chose to come and be crucified by the ones that he created!  His perfect life as a sacrifice for my imperfect one.  This, my friend, is love!  Knowing that he loves me that much gives me all the hope I need to survive in a world that has lost its way.  This is why I believe in him, and I trust him as my Lord and Savior!

What Child is This?

 What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.

Raise, raise a song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Please do not get caught up in the hub bub of what the Christmas holiday season has become, but offer yourself to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” – Romans 10:9-10

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:8-10

Merry Christmas!!
